How do we choose the best companies?

We examined 126 health insurance schemes that were rated highest by NCQA, the National Committee for Quality Assurance, a nonprofit ranking group, and compiled by the insurance company.19 We then narrowed the list of companies with highly Qualified Available in Multiple States. To get the best list, the company also had to get at least a financial rating from AM Best, Fitch, or Standard & Poors.

Then, we qualitatively analyzed our nine highly rated companies to identify special strengths that could appeal to the priorities of different types of consumers. We examined how companies ranked them in the NCQA subcategories, in the ACSI (US Customer Satisfaction Index) survey of approximately 300,000 consumers, and in the JD Power Customer Satisfaction Survey of 28,809 Business Health Plan members . The first ten reviews evaluate the depth and breadth of the company's coverage offerings and the prices of individual and employer insurance, Medicare Advantage, and other types of documents.
